NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING CLIENTS ~

Hello & Welcome.

Well Grounded to me means a lot of different things but overall it’s about having a regulated nervous system. It means, making sure your cup is full before you try to fill others. It’s realizing that putting yourself first doesn’t mean you can’t show up in your other relationships. My goal is to help you find ways to reclaim your time, energy and power, so that you can be well & stay grounded. I want you to feel grounded in your shoes, socks and on this earth so that you can take up the space that surrounds you. You have to be grounded before you can blossom and you deserve to bloom.

My name is Dominique and I’m a licensed clinical professional counselor. I received my masters in clinical mental health counseling from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois.

Prior to my work in private practice, I worked in non-profit assisting those who needed a higher level of care (i.e. schizophrenia, borderline personality, bi-polar, etc). My role as their therapist was to help them develop the skills necessary to function effectively within the community along with medication management.

As a therapist, I strive to decolonize therapy. I’m notorious for keeping it real and calling out any BS that stands in between you and creating lasting change.

Decolonized therapy for clients experiencing anxiety, depression, OCD, relationship issues, panic attacks, social anxiety and life transitions

Sometimes life presents us with unthinkable challenges, and we feel lost in the chaos of it all. This may cause us to spiral down the rabbit hole, forcing us to get caught in the cycle of negative thoughts that holds us back from creating positive changes in our lives. Despite our best efforts, we still find ourselves dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, low self-esteem, pressures from work and an inability to find balance in our lives. You might feel stuck in patterns of thoughts or behaviors that are making it hard for you to fully engage in life.  This may lead you to feeling powerless and alone asking yourself, “how can I do better?” Everything can feel more difficult when things seem out of our control. When we strengthen the relationships with ourselves, it reboots our mind body connection, allowing life to feel more manageable, balanced and fulfilling.

My therapeutic style is holistic, considering the whole person with deep respect instead of focusing solely on the current symptoms you may come in with. I apply principles of evidence-based treatments while implementing mindfulness-based techniques. I do this through working collaboratively, with compassion, acceptance and humor. As your therapist, my goal is to help you learn the skills that will help highlight your strengths, lower stress levels and allow you to live more mindfully. I strive to help you discover what it means to live intuitively, embrace your vulnerabilities and learn how to challenge and face uncertainty with more confidence. I will guide you on how to be present and deepen your relationships with others, so you will leave feeling empowered and ready to live more authentically.

CURRENTLY ACCEPTING CLIENTS ~

Hello, my name is Sonya D Willis and I’m a licensed professional counselor. I have worked in the mental health field for over 10 years and I have been licensed for over seven. I received my Master’s degree in Counseling, specializing in Marriage, Couples, and Family from Governors State University. I’m currently a PhD student studying education and supervision, with a focus in trauma and crisis. Throughout my profession, I have taught and organized courses in counseling. I started supervising clinicians and then began practicing more in private practice and bigger corporations. I have worked in all settings with a multitude of people, but particularly my focus has been with African-American clients. I specialize in helping individuals, youth, families, couples, both married and preparing for marriage. I’m certified in the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy.

There are many changes and challenges that we face in life and I’m here to help you sort through them. I also can help navigate other challenges including but not limited to treatments regarding trauma in relation to sexual related disorders and the complexities of other stress-related diagnoses and transitional phases. A no-nonsense approach is important to me because realism matters. On the journey of improving and sustaining mental health, it’s important to be real with yourself about your expectations, what you can change and how you plan to improve. With the endless number of resources and techniques that we can explore, I can help you obtain your goals more confidently and help you feel empowered to improve your mental health.
